President—Nathisha Charles-Pantin is a graduate of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, Nathisha possesses an Honours BSc. Degree in Ecological Sciences/Forestry. She also holds an Honours Diploma in Forestry. She is the holder of a President’s Medal for her achievement in the field of Forestry. Nathisha works at the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, Tobago as a Forest Management Officer I, is the author of many environmental stories and the creator of ‘Story Time’ an ongoing radio programme in Tobago.
Board Secretary—Khadija Bourne is a graduate of the University of The West Indies, St. Augustine and possesses a BSc. Degree in Environmental and Natural Resources Management and a Minor in Marine Biology. She plans to pursue a MSc in Forestry in the very near future. She is presently employed with the Forestry Division, Trinidad and Tobago where she developed her love for forestry and its sustainable management. Her future aspirations are to empower and encourage women to become sustainable forest managers.
Environmental and Social Advocate - Akilah Jaramogi is the Managing-Director and Co-founder of the Fondes Amandes Community Reforestation Project (FACRP), Trinidad and Tobago. Over the 30 years history of the FACRP Akilah has actively engaged in new forest conservation and rehabilitation methods with local, regional and international groups in the Caribbean, Europe and North America as a consultant and educator with an extensive list of organizations and companies. Akilah is also a self-taught jewelry designer and has been making jewelry from natural materials for several years.
Gender Expert—Dr. Piya Pangsapa (PhD Sociology) is Head/Senior Lecturer of the IGDS at The UWI, St. Augustine. She is the author of Textures of Struggle (Cornell University Press, 2007) as well as articles and chapters on gender, migration, labour standards, human rights and ethnographic research. Her current work considers the impact of corporate responsibility, status and citizenship rights of migrants, transnational activist networks and gender, labour and environmental issues. Dr Pangsapa is also co-author of Environment and Citizenship (Zed Books, 2008).
Conservation Biologist— Nicole Leotaud has twenty years of experience working in natural resource management across the Caribbean, and is a believer in people by nature. She is a skilled facilitator, and specialises in using creative techniques to engage all types of stakeholders in a fun experience. Nicole is the Executive Director of the Caribbean Natural Resources Institute (CANARI) and is responsible for ensuring the mission and strategic objectives adopted by the CANARI Partnership are met and manages its day-to-day operations.
